Galois is a research and development services company focusing on high-assurance software. Staff members assume a variety of concurrent roles and responsibilities. My roles include serving as a member of an Engineering Council that jointly holds the equivalent of a VP of Engineering position, as well as Project Leadership roles. Engineering Council Member (2006-present) My responsibilities in this role have varied over time, including: • Leading the Engineering Council. • Forecasting and tracking company-wide revenue from research and development services. • Hiring, new employee orientation, mentoring team members. • Mentoring and holding project managers accountable for effective project execution and healthy teams. • Organizational improvements to the Engineering Council and engineering team. • Serving on the corporate leadership team. Senior Technical Project Lead (2004-present) Leading research and development projects, ranging in size from two-person/three-month to ten-person/multi-year projects. Responsibilities include: • Team staffing and caring for team health. • Constructing and executing to project plans, primarily using agile and iterative approaches and active risk management. • Coordinating all team activities, including those of subcontractor organizations. • Representing project, team, schedule, and risks to external clients and internal stakeholders. • Reviewing software and other project artifacts produced by teams. • Authoring technical reports and proposals for future work. Senior Technical Contributor (20••••07) Designing, implementing, and testing high-assurance software systems, primarily using Haskell and C on Linux. Projects include a compiler for a data description language, a web server capable of securely serving content at multiple classification levels, and a secure mobile platform. Authored functional specifications, product designs, and test plans.
