I was born throwing up the Hook \'Em sign on a warm winter night in Austin, Texas, where I spent most of my formative years. As a kid, I learned there always to make an effort to hold the door open for someone close behind, follow the pledge of allegiance with the Texas pledge, and refer to a group of people as \"y\'all.\" It wasn\'t until my family moved to Japan, California, then Singapore and back to Austin, that I realized there was more to the world than my bubble of burnt orange and cowboy boots.Those childhood opportunities to travel internationally kindled my passion for different cultures and people. Throughout high school, I readily volunteered locally and overseas, making sure to experience communities in cities like La Feria, Texas, and countries such as China, India, and the Philippines.Today, I work in a field centered on human interactions—and I love it.
