I serve as the Operations Officer in assigned missions & facilitate immersive learning in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) for 36 Ambition Experimental Pilots (AXPs) in 3 rotations of 12 students. AXPs are from all 50 states and 21 different countries. Observe & enhance the learning of AXPs in 21st Century skills of Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, Communication and Technology. This is accomplished through their teamwork, mission planning, piloting an experimental aircraft, co-pilot duties in radio communications, navigation, fuel planning, and equipment operations, & radar control in determining direction of flight, and radio communications. The team of Chiefs load software for scenarios that enable the AXPs to fly the X-12B Triad in carrier aviation, aerial refueling, 6 plane formation flying, search & rescue, humanitarian assistance, equipment & food resupply, fire fighting, hovering, hurricane preparation, Presidential aircraft escort, & air to ground operations.I initiate & facilitate immersive learning of each flight of 12 AXPs (6 aircraft) w/a mission briefing, aircraft assignment, & then monitor via radar control in the Joint Operations Center w/a different group of AXPs. The team of Chiefs, I & the Joint Intelligence Center (JIC) Facilitator assist the AXPs learning & executing communications protocol & inflight navigation along w/completing assigned mission objectives during each flight.We review & update navigation logs w/up to date information on the carrier location & destination changes.One highlight during the summer of 2018 was serving as the Operations Officer for the Jolly Rogers Squadron during Deployment 18-10. Through their individual efforts, their Carrier Air Group Shipmates (VF-211 Checkmates, VFA-25 Fist of the Fleet), my shipmate (Piper) in the Joint Intelligence Center, & their Chiefs (Big Country, Spooky), the Jolly Rogers earned Squadron of the Week.
