Pathways Systems Engineer @Northrop Grumman

Northrop Grumman defines possible through solving the world\'s toughest challenges in aerospace, defense, missions, and space. I am proud to have joined the Space Systems sector, helping to broaden mankind\'s understanding of what lies beyond our world and to define possible for our world\'s future sustainment and security. Additionally, I am honored to take part in Northrop Grumman\'s Pathways Rotational Program which helps early career professionals build experience and explore the company\'s opportunities through three year-long rotations. During my second year-long rotation in the PATHWAYS program: • Review requirements, design review packages, and results for FEA/thermal/shock and vibration/weight and CG analyses to provide technical guidance during development of a transportable SATCOM-type ground communication terminal • Built a computational tool utilizing Excel to assist mechanical engineers with modifying a bolted support channel design through performing stress/failure analysis on a preloaded joint in pure tension, pure shear, and combined loading • Develop and review system, component, and interface requirements to ensure alignment between the subcontractor’s hardware design with in-house software/hardware development plans • Represent the product team at weekly Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Control Board meetings to identify schedule risks, areas of nonconformance, and to brief team leadership on important decisions or procedural changes • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research and develop an end-item that meets customer requirements and mission needs; assist with integration into the larger defense system
