2021 Outstanding MIS Faculty Member- Teach \"Introduction to Computer Based Systems\"(MIS 2113) to approximately students a year- Create content and examinations for MIS 2113 which has four modules. Store and Retrieve Data (SQL and ERD), Analyze and Visualize Data (Excel), Automate Data Operations (Programming via VBA), and Protect Data (General Data Security).In storing and retrieving data, students learn how to write SQL queries, including Joins and Aggregate Functions, and how to design and draw entity-relationship diagrams. In analyzing and visualizing data, students learn how to incorporate SQL into Excel as well as use numerous Excel functions and formulas (V/H Lookup, Pivot/PowerPivot, If Statements). Additionally, students learn how to visually display information through Excel and PowerBI. Automating data operations focuses on creating proper flowcharts and then coding the diagrams through VBA and python. In protecting data, students are exposed to the security CIA triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) as well as the threats and controls to ensuring their data is safe.
