I started in this role as Covid was winding down and just prior to several senior-level retirements and transfers of others. We added in a full office move, hiring of new staff, incorporating major technology updates, and working to rebuild the Society from the effects of the lockdown and resultant changes in higher education. Not in order or importance, some of the things for which I am responsible include:* Manage operations, staff, HR functions, and >950 chapters internationally * Process payroll for employees and contractors including those paid by W-2, 1099, and international wire transfers * Streamline processes and procedures throughout all Society activities* Identify, research, mitigate, and rectify potential areas of risk* Mediate and address as necessary areas of concern between stakeholders* Serve as Search Committee Chair for internal hiring committees* Manage multi-phase annual audit and Form 990 submissions with outside vendor* Review financial documents and contracts for the Society, including signing authority for checks, approval of vendor payments, scholarships, awards, and reimbursement requests* Oversee of Society credit card program * Contribute to a collaborative team to produce our annual, out-of-state convention for >900 attendees* Negotiate with hotel to approve costs prior to and during event, detail guest rooms for staff and Board members, assign convention rooms, identify food/beverage needs, and to conduct a detailed review of final billing and reimbursements before approving payment
