ABOUT JEANNETTE WRIGLEY

As the Consultant for FLP I have worked for the last nine years with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), training staff who deal with families who have been bereaved and people traumatised by incidents in the work place. In July I was awarded the contract for the next three years. Recently I decided to make this role my focus. Today is a milestone, moving on and looking to the future development of FLP. For the last five years I had the privilege to be Service Delivery Manager (SDM) delivering Restorative Justice (RJ) in Merseyside, it was an amazing experience. I have worked with some of the most professional people but more importantly some of the most courageous and humbling victims of crime. People who not only shared their tragedies and life changing traumas but went on to develop a relationship of trust in us being able to ‘get their voices heard’ get ‘answers to their questions’ but more importantly to ‘empower’ them and give them back some ‘power and control’ of their situations. Working so closely with offenders of the most serious crimes was challenging and rewarding when you experience their commitment to rehabilitation and realisation of the impact of their crimes. My ‘learning curve’ became so steep at times I thought I was going to ‘fall off it’. I have delivered FLO training as part of Professor John Grieve and Professor Jonathan Crego\'s Critical Incident Hydra exercises with The Ombudsman\'s office, IPCC and their equivalent in Jamaica. I delivered Community Policing training in Abu Dhabi and locally Communications training for Solicitors dealing with bereaved clients. I have also acted as a mediator for Walton NHS Trust when dealing with bereaved families. I retired from Merseyside Police in May 2010 as a Chief Inspector. One of my specialisms was being a family liaison officer (the first in the force in 1988) and another was introducing training for the role to the force in 1997. I have worked on several high profile cases, including the murders of Helen McCourt and Rosemary Nelson (Northern Ireland). I also led on the audit and inspection process for the improvement in performance of the Citizen Focus agenda supporting a number of Assistant Chief Constables (ACC\'s). My strengths are around \'emotional intelligence\', communications, confidentiality, leadership, integrity, criminal justice and fairness.
