WORK HISTORY
Treasurer of East African Society @Kent Students\' Union
The East African Society is a dynamic community of international students from East Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, and North Sudan. Our primary goal is to serve as a crucial resource for students adjusting to life and culture at the University of Kent, offering a supportive environment reminiscent of home. As Treasurer, I oversee our financial initiatives, ensuring responsible management of funds. Our society has a rich history of engagement. We also actively participate in leadership talks and debates in collaboration with other university societies. We strongly encourage our members to engage fully during their time at the University of Kent, whether through their academic societies or leisure activities. Beyond our campus, we foster connections with other East African societies across the UK and engage in regional initiatives like the Beyond Zero Campaign. Our network goes beyond social interactions; it serves as a bridge for students throughout the UK, fostering friendships and support systems that extend beyond East African identities. This informal mentorship and camaraderie are instrumental in enhancing our members\' university experiences and personal growth. As Treasurer, I am committed to ensuring our financial resources are utilized effectively to sustain these valuable connections and initiatives.
