My current role with Premier Health encompasses everything that has come before in my professional journey. As a director for the entire health system, I develop new strategies for clinical documentation and promote effective and efficient review of physician documentation and the medical record. I ensure teams meet performance standards and KPIs by providing ongoing clinical documentation education for new staff, including physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.Some of my accomplishments include:• Implementing a new software for the Clinical Documentation team, ensuring data integrity and accurate analytic reporting• Assisting our physician advisor team with creating dot phases in Epic to assist providers in capturing critical clinical data related to diagnoses• Designing a DRG validation program and implementing a DRG downgrade appeal process• Developing criteria with dieticians and compliance to appropriately capture malnutrition diagnosesI am not content with the status quo. That’s why I work to break down silos and bring interdisciplinary teams together to identify best practices. By empowering employees, we advance innovative clinical care and increase hospital revenues, allowing us to continue serving those who turn to us for help.
