ABOUT JEANETTE ASHMOLE

Jeanette is a Criminal Barrister turned TV consultant currently full time at Coronation Street. She is also advisor on a number of TV shows in development. Jeanette advises and contributes to TV involving crime such as crime dramas and true crime programmes recently working on C4\'s Hunted, Sky\'s \'Meet, Marry, Murder\' and advising on BBC\'s Happy Valley and the second series of the BAFTA award winning drama \'Time\' by Jimmy McGovern. She has recently worked with Brinkworth Productions as Legal & Compliance Producer on USA true crime show Accused:Guilty or Innocent as well as C5’s Suspect No1 and C5\'s Police:Hour of Duty. When called upon, Jeanette lectures in Criminal Law, Evidence & Investigation and is a founding member of The University of Board (Alumni) having been invited by the Chancellor of the University. Jeanette\'s other charity work involves her role as a Director of Derby County Community Trust. Before attending University, Jeanette worked in the Police. It was in this role that she realised her love for Criminal Law and decided to apply to attend University to study Law. However, having lost her mother to cancer at 9 and her father two years after, Jeanette lived with her foster parents. Having decided at 16 to leave home, she did not feel in a position to be able to continue to study at school. She instead took up full time employment doing all manner of jobs in place of studying A-Levels. Jeanette knew that without A-Levels becoming a Barrister would be challenging. In determination of her ambition, sometime later, Jeanette was successful in securing funding for her law degree from her local newspaper: ‘The Derby Telegraph’ After graduation, Jeanette applied and was awarded a major scholarship from Middle Temple in London to attend Bar School. Jeanette studied full time whilst juggling a part time evening bar job working the required 16+ hours to receive a contribution towards childcare for her 2 children. After being called to the Bar Jeanette worked for 5 years at the UK Home Office as a detective/investigator and worked on the UK Fugitive Team working in conjunction with the National Crime Agency. She achieved 2 commendations for her work & the highest mark achieved nationally for the National Investigators Exam (exceptional grades) Interesting Facts about Jeanette : She applied & appeared on an ITV Gameshow to raise money for her law school fees. In 2022 Stacey Dooley contacted Jeanette to appear on her BBC Sounds podcast. She has been a TV Support Artiste and appeared on the likes of Holby City & the TV Series \'Snatch\"
