ABOUT JEAN-FREDERIC BERARD
Since leaving CDPQ in 2019, I have been working primarily as a consultant to various investment managers and activist hedge funds in the U.S. and in Europe. I have also worked with some private and public companies on strategic planning, communications and investor relations. I launched CDPQ’s Relationship Investing activities in 2012 and successfully deployed more than 3 G$ under this mandate. I was a voting member on the CDPQ’s Canadian equity investment committee and the firm’s ESG committee. I joined the CDPQ in 2005 and spent the first 7 years as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Research specializing in Energy and Utility Equities.Prior to joining CDPQ, I was a senior analyst covering North American Banks and Utilities and a portfolio manager with Standard Life Investments. While attending university, I was a reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces and a Lieutenant with the 30th Field Royal Canadian Artillery. I graduated from the University of Ottawa where I earned both my Bachelor in Administration and MBA. I also earned my Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2004.
