ABOUT JEAN-BAPTISTE BOUVIER
Postdoc at UC Berkeley specializing in ML, RL, and robotics. I have been working on guaranteeing safety in RL and enforcing constraints in diffusion models in generative AI.PhD in Aerospace Engineering specialized in control theory, optimization and astrodynamics. My PhD work focused mostly on the resilience of autonomous systems to partial losses of control authority over actuators. This work pushed the boundary of fault-tolerant control theory by studying a worst-case malfunction typically featuring an adversarial takeover of an actuator of the system. My results have been presented at several control conferences (IFAC, SIAM CT, ACC, ECC.) and published in several journals (JOTA, TAC, Automatica.).I have also been working on a Machine Learning project aiming at guaranteeing the safety of a system whose dynamics we are learning. This project relies on dynamical systems theory and Lyapunov analysis combined with machine learning techniques.
