ABOUT JD WOOTEN
JD is a member of Womble Bond Dickinson\'s Intellectual Property Group where he assists clients in securing and protecting their creative rights in patent, trademark, and copyright matters with a focus on civil litigation and other forms of IP enforcement. He enjoys assisting clients – from entrepreneurial start-ups through large, established corporations – protect and leverage their intellectual property rights and assets through effective and aggressive legal action. Before law school, JD served in the U.S. Air Force as a defense acquisitions program manager and engineer. His active duty experience included various management and engineering roles and culminated as a staff officer to the Commander of the Electronic Systems Center. In this capacity, he was responsible for assisting the General in all internal and external communications to manage a person organization with 150 defense programs and a $5 billion annual budget. JD also served as an Honor Guardsman during this time, providing final military funeral honors for fallen service members and veterans. In addition to his legal work, JD currently serves as Vice President and President-Elect of the Old North State Council of Boy Scouts of America and volunteers as an Admissions Liaison Officer (ALO) for the U.S. Air Force Academy. As an ALO, JD helps to counsel and recruit exceptional young men and women from North Carolina pursuing an appointment to the Air Force Academy.
