Wings of Resilience: Turning Grief Into Hope, Action, and Education Across Ohio In 2022, our family lost David Robert “DMoney” Palcisko (2006–2022) to suicide. No family is ever prepared for that kind of loss. But instead of letting grief define us, Jamie, Payton, and I made a choice: to turn pain into purpose.Since then, we’ve awarded 24 scholarships in David’s name and launched Wings of Resilience, a family-led nonprofit dedicated to suicide prevention, mental health education, and connecting communities across all 88 counties in Ohio.As the Education Chair for AFSP Ohio, I see every day how urgently this work is needed. Too often, schools, veterans, first responders, and parents operate in silos. The resources exist, but they don’t always reach the students, families, or veterans who need them most.Wings of Resilience is changing that.Our plan is to divide Ohio into five regions, each led by community champions, and to build connections across: Teachers, school counselors & athletic directors Superintendents & booster clubs Students in sports, band, drama & leadership Veterans, first responders & service academy alumni Partners like NAMI & AFSP, whose QR codes are even on every jar of DMoney Honey This isn’t just a September Suicide Prevention Month project.
