About Jamie Cummings

I am a Licensed Nurse with a Bachelor\'s degree in Psychology and a strong foundation in holistic wellness as a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200). I am passionate about delivering patient-centered care and supporting individuals through life\'s challenges. My background blends clinical nursing skills with mental health knowledge and a mind-body approach to care. My nursing practice is grounded in thorough assessment skills, patient advocacy, and the ability to manage complex care needs with calm, clarity, and compassion. Over the past three years, I have built a strong clinical foundation working with diverse populations including children, adults and geriatric populations across multiple care settings. I completed a clinical role at Northwestern Medicine on the medical surgical unit, where I provided direct care to acute patients with complex medical conditions, managed high patient volumes, and collaborated closely with interdisciplinary teams. During my clinical rotations at Misericordia, I cared for pediatric patients with complex developmental and physical disabilities, supporting their ADLs, mobility, sensory needs, therapeutic engagement, and individual care plans.Currently, I work in pre- and post-operative care in a post anesthesia unit, where I monitor patients recovering from surgical procedures. I confidently manage drains and dressings, provide airway support, pain management, patient education, medication administration, obtain and monitor vital signs, collect focused health histories, and perform thorough post-operative assessments to ensure safe and proactive recovery. Prior to nursing, I worked in healthcare administration and management - experience that strengthened my communication, organization, delegation, and leadership skills. Within these roles, I coordinated care, supported and managed teams, and maintained high-quality standards in fast-paced environments. I have intentionally transitioned into the nursing field to practice medicine and fulfill a lifelong calling. I am passionate about delivering safe, evidence-based care, supporting patients, and continuously expanding my clinical expertise. My unique background and holistic wellness training of the mind, body, and soul allow me to bring an additional layer of emotional intelligence and patient-centered presence to the bedside.
