ABOUT JONATHAN CAIRNS-TERRY

My passion is using data to improve people’s lives by revealing new perspectives that enable better decision-making. I lead a function at the Care Quality Commission responsible for the creation, maintenance and development of high impact insight products for internal and external customers, enabling consistent, effective and efficient decision making and supporting an insight-driven approach to regulation. We\'re transitioning to a \'product trio\' approach from a more traditional analytics setup. Previously I worked in PwC Australia\'s Integrated Infrastructure Analytics team and was a key part of the group that delivered PwC\'s CityPulse, evaluating the liveability of small areas across Australia\'s largest cities. I started my career in PwC UK\'s Assurance practice where I became an ACA-qualified accountant. I have experience in a range of data analytics projects, including modelling in Alteryx, SQL and Excel, visualisation in Tableau and Power BI, and GIS work with PostGIS and QGIS, and in designing and evaluating data management processes. I also have varied audit experience of a wide range of organisations. I have excellent numeric, analytic, problem-solving and communication skills with track record of high quality delivery. My degree was BSc (Hons) Mathematics from University of Warwick (First class).
