In over thirty years in the technology industry my time has been divided between Japan and the UK, and between hard-core software development and more external-facing roles providing technical expertise to sales, marketing, customers and partners. I am fluent in Japanese with over ten years of experience coordinating technology projects between Japanese companies and their international partners.I am currently focussed on bare-metal microcontroller firmware development, but my main experience is in embedded Linux with a detailed knowledge of kernel and device driver level development and debugging. Over the course of my career I have worked on a huge variety of very different types of systems including games, operating systems, device drivers, embedded consumer electronics devices, database applications, networking software, user-interface design, real-time broadcast graphics and mass-market Windows packages.Specialties: IPTV systems, embedded Linux, MPEG, VOD, STB design and operation, device driver development, C, Japanese, international partner liaison.
