ABOUT JB BARRIOS
Hi there! As a College Counselor with 5 years of experience, I specialize in supporting first-generation, low-income, high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. The heart of my practice is to trust and empower scholars to make informed decisions based on their own values and strengths. I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each student, providing customized support that helps them thrive academically, professionally, and personally. I offer my scholars intensive writing coaching, academic advising, time-management guidance, career counseling, and much more. Working with students is an honor and a privilege that I never take for granted. I guide and support young people as they make some of the most important decisions of their lives, and I’m constantly inspired by their resilience, determination, and creativity. As a low-income, first-generation, queer, Latinx student, I know firsthand just how challenging persisting and thriving in higher education can be.
