ABOUT JOSÉ A. BALAGUERÓ

I am a multilingual professional passionate about environmental stewardship and guided by triple bottom line principles, boasting extensive international experience across for-profit and non-profit sectors (humanitarian relief and development). My focus lies in impact and results, demonstrated through leading high-performing multicultural and interdisciplinary teams to exceed goals and deliver on multi-million program portfolios. Moreover, I specialize in developing and executing new market strategies and forging win-win partnerships across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. My expertise extends to designing and implementing strategic business plans with P&L responsibility across various industries. Currently, I manage a growing portfolio of federal and corporate grants aimed at supporting communities worldwide in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from humanitarian crises and the effects of climate-related disasters. In Fiscal Year 2021, I received the Humanitarian Services Presidential Award for Excellence from the American Red Cross Society. This recognition was a result of my contributions to designing and implementing a cash distribution program that disbursed over $11.3 million in cash grants to more than families affected by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. I am keen on exploring new avenues to leverage my business and social impact acumen to address our climate crisis. This includes establishing and managing impactful cross-sector partnerships, developing and implementing market and business strategies for triple bottom line-focused businesses, spearheading Corporate Social Responsibility Programs, leading conservation or sustainability programs, and expanding my programmatic experience in climate-related Disaster Risk Reduction and mitigation, Nature-based Solutions, and Anticipatory Action. Immersing myself in new cultures is a passion of mine, as is spending time hiking, swimming, diving, and enjoying beautiful natural environments. I have a love for sports in general and grew up playing rugby and fútbol (soccer). With a versatile profile and a track record of launching successful initiatives across both for-profit and non-profit sectors, I bring strategic thinking, strong problem-solving abilities, resourcefulness, and a results-oriented servant leadership approach to the table.
