ABOUT JAZZMIN DEMY
I am a doctoral student scientist-clinician who strives to understand child health and development from a family-systems perspective. My research focuses on family relationships as a key mechanism through which risk and/or protective factors are transmitted to strengthen relationships and enhance children\'s health and development. This work is situated within an understanding of contextual risk factors, social determinants of health, and major life challenges that shape the experiences of children and their families. Aligned with my clinical interests, the overarching goal of my research program is to understand and foster familial, cultural, and community strengths and individual well-being within equity-deserving families. In collaborating with communities, I aim to bridge research and practice by providing evidence to (1) implement innovative family-centered supports that consider equitable access to care by addressing contextual barriers and community needs and well-being; and (2) inform public health policies and advocacy work.
