About Jay Shisler
I am a 2023 graduate of Rice University, with majors in Economics and History, as well as a certificate in Spanish (B2-CEFR proficiency level). I am currently working at Aldine High School as an English Teacher, partnered with Teach For America. I am passionate about working to combat systemic inequalities in the United States and my community, especially inequities within public education. I believe that by ensuring all students have access to a great education, inequality will decrease and our country will move closer to reflecting the principles it was built to protect. Some past highlights-Financial Manager of a student-run Bar on Rice\'s Campus (The Pub @ Rice) from January 2021-May 2023 -Intern at the Baker Institute from May 2021-December 2021, a think tank ranked No.1 in 2020 among the best university-affiliated think tanks in the world by the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report -Legal intern, working with Housing law in Madrid during the summer of 2022 -Student elected treasurer of an over 300 member residential college from my sophomore year to senior year -Three year team elected captain of high school Cross Country team
