About Jay Parikh

After a few years working as an engineer, my time was spent breaking down technical problems using data, logic, and structured thinking. That way of approaching problems still defines how I work today only now, those problems come from the options market.I stepped away from the corporate path to trade options full-time in India’s derivatives market. A key reason for the transition was my belief in meritocracy. Markets, more than most environments, tend to reward preparation, discipline, and decision quality over narratives or credentials. The feedback is immediate, and the outcomes are unambiguous. My trading is built around the Greeks and volatility. I primarily structure low-delta or delta-neutral positions, using multi-leg setups such as iron condors, calendars, butterflies, and adjusted straddles or strangles. Delta, gamma, theta, and vega guide entry, adjustment, and exit decisions throughout the trade lifecycle.I focus mainly on individual stock options within the Indian F&O space, where earnings, company-specific developments, and sector dynamics create distinct volatility regimes. The objective is straightforward: operate in high-probability zones, manage exposure actively, and keep risk defined at all times. Directional conviction is secondary to structure and positioning.Data drives every decision. Trades are filtered through historical volatility behavior, implied volatility context, open interest structure, and scenario analysis. If a setup doesn’t align with the data, it doesn’t get traded. Position sizing and risk controls take precedence over being right on any single idea, with predefined adjustment and exit frameworks in place before entry.Alongside discretionary options trading, I am actively working toward applying my engineering background to systematic and algorithmic trading combining market structure knowledge with data analysis, backtesting, and automation to build repeatable, rule-based strategies.Outside the markets, I enjoy cooking and trekking both useful reminders that patience, preparation, and process matter well beyond trading.Always learning, trade by trade. Always refining the process.Open to thoughtful discussions with traders, engineers, and market professionals who approach this craft seriously.
