ABOUT JAYNE HEMBRUFF

Professional Experience: Yoga Therapy professional, conference presenter, and founder of Innovative Wellness Therapeutic Yoga, with over 20 years of therapeutic program design experience and more than 1,500 hours of yoga therapy training. My work focuses on adapting yoga for acquired brain injury, healthy aging, back care, and mental health recovery. Currently, I live with an acquired brain injury and persistent concussion symptoms, along with other challenges following two motor vehicle accidents. While these events were difficult, they profoundly deepened my meditation practice and led me to personally explore adaptive and gentle yoga. Learning to work lovingly with my own injuries has given me greater empathy and insight—skills that help me better support others on their wellness journeys. Goal: Help people, of all ages and abilities, and organizations achieve results with renewed enthusiasm for their personal and professional life. Specialties: Yoga Therapy for Acquired Brain Injury, Concussion, and Recovery Back Care Basics and Therapeutic Adaptive Yoga for spinal health Healthy Aging & Chair Yoga (BoneFit & Gentle Exercise informed) Trauma-Sensitive Yoga for those living with Mental Health & Eating Disorders Acute Mental Health, Addictions & Community Mental Wellness Programs Survivor- and Caregiver-Led Program Development (with Leela Taggar) Suicide Prevention & Post-Suicide Yoga Support Programs Corporate Wellness, Gentle & Chair Yoga Sessions Conference Presentations & Training Facilitation Leela Taggar and I presented at the 2024 International Yoga Therapy Conference and the 2025 Ontario Brain Injury Association Conference. Together we shared survivor- and caregiver-led therapeutic yoga models. Leela brings her perspective as a long-distance caregiver, kinesiology student, and yoga for health advocate. A former elite ballet dancer with six years of professional training and performance experience, she is now studying kinesiology at the Université de Montréal’s School of Medicine, where her research explores women’s health, exercise physiology, and Diabetes. Bilingual and deeply engaged in evidence-based approaches, Leela has facilitated classes at Innovative Wellness for several years, adding a cross-generational and academic lens to our work.
