About Jayne Gumpel
I am a psychotherapist, educator, and poet dedicated to helping people return to the full truth of their humanity through relational healing, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and the transformative power of presence. For over 30 years, I’ve blended Imago Therapy, recently AEDP, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to support individuals, couples, clinicians, and communities. My work centers around a fundamental belief:We heal in connection. The group becomes the medicine. Suffering need not be apathologized. We all suffer and we all have the capacity for joy.I founded Cultivating JOY, a retreat-based healing model and leadership training program for clinicians, couples, and communities. I design and lead immersive retreats that integrate: • Ketamine-assisted therapy • Mindfulness and meditation • Relational and communication practices (Imago / Noble Communication) • Poetry as a healing modality • Neuroscience-informed integrationAcross all my work-retreats, supervision, teaching, writing, and therapy, my aim to create spaces where people can safely experience connection, expanded states of awareness, emotional repair, and the deep remembering of their own inner healer. My Substack and publications weave together clinical wisdom and poetry, honoring both the science of transformation and the mystery of it. I believe poetry is one of the oldest medicines we have, and I use it to help people soften, see clearly, and access the truths that live beneath language.I am currently training clinicians in KAP and relational facilitation, developing national retreat teams, and expanding Cultivating JOY into a broader institute for psychedelic-supported healing, leadership, and community care.Areas of Expertise:• Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)• Imago Relationship Therapy & Noble Communication• Level 1 AEDP (Undoing Aloneness & Core State Work)• Psychedelic Retreat Design & Facilitation• Clinical Supervision & Leadership Training (ELP Program)• Poetry as Clinical Intervention• Trauma, attachment, and relational repair• Group dynamics & community-based healing• Mindfulness & contemplative practices• Strategic development for healing-based organizationsWhat drives me:A lifelong commitment to reducing suffering, expanding joy, and creating spaces where people feel seen, held, and connected—to themselves, to each other, and to the larger field that holds us all.
