ABOUT JAY M SCHOEN

I am a spatial and wildlife ecologist with broad experience in geospatial data analysis, remote sensing, and wildlife ecology research. My work addresses ecological questions and conservation objectives with geospatial analyses and ecological modeling to promote healthy functional landscapes for nature and people. In my current role as the data scientist for the Western Fire and Forest Resilience Collaborative (WFFRC), I integrate data analyses and products between scientists, teams, and stakeholders. These products are a key component of WFFRC’s objectives for science and communication with decision-makers and the public. I have also worked as an ecological consultant for several leading conservation organizations (e.g, Wildlife Conservation Society, Conservation Science Partners), and hold an adjunct faculty position within Columbia University’s Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology (E3B) department, where I teach a course on remote sensing for landscape analysis each spring.
