ABOUT JAY HOLDER

TL;DR (Too Long; Future Tech Hero in Training ) Former support / designer who’s swapped colour palettes for command lines (…kind of). Great at talking tech without making people cry. Patient, friendly, and not afraid of the phrase “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”🧑‍ Currently learning the ropes in tech—curious, motivated, and loving every “aha!” moment.🤓 Big fan of problem-solving, clear instructions, and clean layouts (in both design and life).🧠 I don’t code yet—but I get it, I want it, and I’m putting in the work. Goal: land that first Junior Dev or Tech Support role, grow like a well-watered houseplant, and bring good vibes to a great team.I’m a tech enthusiast with a creative twist, pivoting from a background in graphic design and customer service into the world of software development and IT support. With my roots in design, I bring a unique blend of creativity and technical know-how to every challenge. I spent years honing my eye for detail (Graphic Design at Solent University, 2015–2017) and even volunteering my design skills at Age UK, and now I’m channeling that creativity into coding and problem-solving in tech. In my previous roles, I learned the art of patient troubleshooting and clear communication – whether I was guiding a non-technical user through a tricky software fix or crafting a visual design for a client. I believe in empathy and creativity when tackling technical problems. My customer service experience taught me to listen first and solve problems with a friendly, can-do attitude.(After all, turning confusion into understanding can sometimes require as much imagination as designing a logo!)Now, as I transition into junior developer and advanced tech support roles, I’m building on a solid foundation of self-taught skills and hands-on IT experience. I love learning new technologies and improving my coding abilities every day. Whether it’s debugging a piece of code, helping a customer install a new app, or designing an intuitive user interface, I dive in with curiosity and dedication. My goal: to bridge my creative background with technical expertise, delivering solutions that are both innovative and user-friendly. I’m excited to contribute to a team where I can continue to grow, keep things running smoothly, and maybe even add a dash of creative flair to the mix.(Also, I’m known to bring a bit of good humour to the office – because tech work is a team sport, and a positive approach goes a long way!)(Open to remote and on-site opportunities in Junior Developer or Technical Support roles.)
