ABOUT JAY FRANZONE

While in college Jay was a leader in the efforts to end the HIV pandemic-era policy banning gay men from giving blood which resulted in a change in federal policy, he documented his work in a New York Times editorial.After graduating, Jay moved to Texas to teach middle school special-ed. After the high school shooting in Parkland, FL, and learning of the disproportionate impacts of gun violence on Black and Latinx communities through his students Jay left the classroom determined to do something. Jay left to coordinate voter registration programs on college campuses in Texas before joining Everytown for Gun Safety in May of 2019.After three years as an Associate on the Students Demand Action team working to support students in the midwest, Jay was named National Strategic Partnership Manager in May of 2022.His best work is done under pressure and he is frequently caffeinated.
