Jayen Veerapen is a seasoned, fully bilingual English / French, energy professional with chemical engineering degrees and an MBA, having studied full-time in Canada, UK and France where he won a full 5-year merit scholarship (1% success rate) from the French government for undergraduate engineering studies in France.He brings 20 years’ hands-on experience both as an engineer and as an investor with major companies such as Suncor Energy (Petro-Canada) in oil & gas, Cameco in mining and nuclear, and Brookfield Asset Management (Brookfield Renewable) in electricity markets. While he honed his expertise in the energy sector working for the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA), he has developed a broad expertise and interest in the transition to a more sustainable future, building on both his strong technical and business skills.Currently based in Toronto, Jayen leads workstreams focused on identifying commercial opportunities linked to changes in energy supply and demand across the economy, at Bank of Montreal.
