About Jaycee Shin

Hi! I\'m Jaycee, a recent graduate with a master\'s degree in City and Regional Planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology, thanks to the Fulbright Graduate Program Scholarship. Originally from South Korea, I\'m currently based in Atlanta, working as a consultant at KB Advisory Group.My academic journey began with a dual major in Interior and Environmental Design and Global Studies at Pusan National University. This experience taught me the significance of the built environment and its profound impact on people\'s behavior, mental well-being, and overall health. Traveling and studying in various global contexts highlighted the common challenges faced by urban areas worldwide.During my internship at the Global Green Growth Institute I gained valuable insights into how climate change not only creates new challenges for cities but also exacerbates existing issues. I recognized that while climate change is a global problem, implementing solutions at the city and local level is crucial for those directly experiencing its effects. Assessing the quality of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) of many developing countries helped me understand the specific challenges they face and the necessity for vertical policy integration, ensuring that national strategies effectively reach local communities. This experience fueled my desire to study more about cities and city planning, motivating me to pursue my master\'s degree in this field.Looking ahead, I\'m eager to use my skills in data analysis to make a difference in urban planning and development. I am passionate about collaborating with others who share my commitment to creating equitable and sustainable urban environments. I aspire to help support evidence-based policies that address social inequalities, particularly in the environmental and housing issues across the U.S, and the world.
