ABOUT JAY CARTON
Currently looking for an opportunity in Western Canada Professional Safety Manager/Lead /Advisor/ Trainer with vast experience on commercial and industrial projects seeking Safety position. I am flexible I can advise as a direct employee or contractor on short or long term projects. My coaching and mentoring skills are support with 15 years as an industrial art teacher (shop) and counsellor. I have also owned an operated a small whitewater rafting company. I would consider opportunities on local projects or rotation shifts on remote projects. As a National Construction Safety Officer (NSCO) I have worked frontline achieving the role of Safety Manager (cross shift with Corporate Director) for a company with employees and 43 Heath Safety Advisors. I have provided Safety direction (18 years) on industrial construction including piling and foundations, cranes, roads and bridge building. Gas plant and pipeline experience includes construction and maintenance, shutdowns, turnarounds and commissioning. I oversaw safety of heavy trucking division with a shop staffing 80 mechanics that supported operations and hydrovac work. I have expertise in risk assessment and safety plan development and implementation including Workman’s Compensation Board (WCB) claims management and modified return to work programs. I have utilized my Bachelor of Education training to supervise training staff and create Safe Operating Procedures and revised safety manuals. I have worked with diverse workgroups including project management, clients and tradespeople welders, electricians, heavy duty equipment operators, drivers and mechanics in achieving safety targets.
