ABOUT JAYASHREE VAITHIYANATHAN

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), holding a Master’s degree in Social Work and postgraduate certification in Addictions and Mental Health. My professional practice is grounded in trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and anti-oppressive care.With over two years of experience supporting justice-involved youth and individuals facing complex mental health and substance use challenges, I bring strong expertise in crisis intervention, harm reduction, life skills coaching, and collaborative case management. In residential settings, I partner with families, probation services, multidisciplinary teams, and community agencies to create structured, supportive environments that promote resilience and long-term stability. I also have experience as a hospital social worker in medical and psychiatric settings, where I provided psychoeducation, emotional support, crisis intervention, and discharge planning for patients and families navigating psychiatric diagnoses and complex medical conditions. Working closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams strengthened my advocacy skills and ability to coordinate effective community transitions. My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural humility, and person-centered care. I am passionate about reducing stigma, strengthening community supports, and empowering individuals toward independence and wellness.
