ABOUT JAYA DUCKWORTH
I recently graduated summa cum laude from Occidental College with a B.A. in Diplomacy and World Affairs and a double minor in Politics and Gender, Women and Sexuality Studies. My Senior Thesis \"\'Disappeared Girls\' or \'Putas Feministas\'? The Impacts of Framing in Argentina\'s Commercial Sex Debate\" received departmental Honors and was awarded \"Best Senior Comprehensive Thesis.\" I additionally received the departmental award for \"Highest Student Achievement Among Seniors,\" and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society as one of eleven Junior Phi Betes. My professional experience has centered on racial and gender justice, youth advocacy, juvenile justice, and educational equity. I am committed to transforming inequitable public systems including education, child welfare, and juvenile justice to better support youth of color. I have over 4 years of experience working in the non-profit sector with community-based organizations, including at public interest law firms in education law and immigration law.
