ABOUT JAY SHINN

After nearly 50 incredible years, my career in the video broadcast industry has come to an end—and what a marvelous journey it has been. I began in January 1978 with Grass Valley Group, fresh out of Sierra College, in the pretest group working on the 950-sync generator. From there, I had the privilege to grow through roles in field service in New Jersey, account management for major broadcast networks in New York, and product management across switchers, DVEs, routing, modular products and master control systems. Along the way, I was honored to be part of so many innovations and milestones, including systems testing on the Model 300, to help bring to market products like Kalypso HD, Zodiac, Kayak, Indigo, and ultimately the Kayenne. I also had the opportunity to serve as VP at FOR-A America and finish my career with EVS, highlighted by a worldwide Sales Win of the Year in 2025. None of this would have been possible without the incredible people who supported, guided, and collaborated with me. I am deeply grateful to my mentors, managers, colleagues, clients, and especially my family. I want to give special thanks to those who made a lasting impact on my journey—Brad Prowse (RIP), Gordon Fellows (RIP), Tom O’Connor, Larry Neitling, Tim Thorsteinston, Hiro Tanoue, and Quentin Grutman and so many others—some of whom are no longer with us, but whose influence remains. I feel truly fortunate to have experienced such a fulfilling, rewarding career in an industry I will never forget and I am grateful for. To all my friends and colleagues—past and present—thank you.
