As the creator and Artistic Director of BATSU, I’ve spent over a decade transforming this underground Japanese-style comedy game show into a full-fledged live entertainment phenomenon. From its start in the East Village to sold-out productions in New York City, Chicago, London, and Edinburgh Fringe, BATSU! has grown into a multi-city staple with a cult following and a devoted fan base.I oversee every creative and strategic facet of the show—from casting and show direction to brand expansion and venue integration. BATSU! blends high-impact physical comedy, improvisation, and audience participation with authentic Japanese cultural elements, served up alongside sushi and sake in an immersive restaurant-theater environment. Under my leadership, the show has become known for its bold aesthetic, inclusive ensemble spirit, and interactive storytelling.Key accomplishments: • Built BATSU! from a one-night experiment into a flagship live entertainment brand with long-running productions across three continents. • Directed and developed hundreds of original games and punishments, shaping BATSU!’s signature tone of “competitive chaos meets heartfelt ensemble.” • Led cross-functional teams in creative development, show operations, marketing, casting, and corporate partnerships. • Partnered with major brands, comedy festivals, and universities to expand BATSU!’s reach, including leadership workshops and cultural collaborations. • Created spin-off formats and new IP under the BATSU! umbrella, including trading cards, TV concepts, and improv-based karaoke shows.BATSU! is more than a show—it’s a movement rooted in trust, risk, and joy.
