About Jay Stone
Aloha, I am a licensed civil engineer in Hawaii and the Principal in Charge of the Horizontal Design Group of Bowers + Kubota Consulting. I started my career as an environmental engineer in 1993, where I focused on wastewater, solids handling, and water treatment. My projects included work for the City and County of Honolulu, Honolulu Board of Water Supply, NAVFAC, USACE, and private clients. I then became a senior civil engineer, working on road, drainage, and dredging projects for private clients and the Whole Barracks Renewal at Wheeler Army Airfield for USACE. At my previous firm, I managed a variety of infrastructure and environmentally sustainable projects, mostly focusing on stormwater management, best management practices, and ecosystem restoration. At Bowers + Kubota, I am working on various government infrastructure projects as well as private development projects. I have extensive experience at training wastewater treatment operators and water distribution system operators and the start-up and optimization of wastewater treatment plants and stormwater management. I am a forrmer instructor with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Outreach College, Water Technology Education Program.Specialties: LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality, Certified Floodplain Manager, and Board Certified Environmental Engineer, Water Supply and Wastewater.
