Jay McCurdy of Drunken Munks is a Manchester based rapper.One of Manchester\'s original MC\'s he cut his teeth in the UK rave scene frequenting the likes of Bowlers, Hysteria and Kinetic. Jay formed the original version of the band in 2008 showcasing his skills at Manchester Dpercussion where he left revelers mind warped with is slick, flows and ease of delivery. Jay then joined the Unity Radio movement holding down the Saturday night slot for 2 years before moving onto club promotions.Then Jmack and backed by his live band he combine a love for a wide range of music genres, and a mutual dislike for the tedium arising from much of the current hip hop trends. “We’re not gangsta and don’t intend to be pimps!” Their eclectic music tastes and influences can be heard throughout their music from the highly popular hard line “Wack Mc’s” to the smooth and funky “You Gave Me Music” and the depth of “Darkness” featuring the Happy Monday’s Julie Gordon:Its is songs like this, that opened the door for Drunken Munks to be featured on BBC Manchester Introducing as “the Artists of the week” and to support the likes of The Sugar Hill Gang, People Under the Stairs, Giant Panda, K-Lashnekoff, DJ Food, The Dub Pistols, Giant Panda and the legendary Mix Master Mike. Following an exciting 2015/2016 in Houston Texas, Jay is now back in sunny Manchester with some exciting new projects.Working with class acts such and NTrance, Cappella & Technotronic it looks like he won’t be slowing down anytime soon
