After a 20-year career in journalism, I decided to use several of the skills I picked up over that time to start TorFauna. I love wildlife photography and I was looking for a way to turn it into a business, and I thought by combining it with my writing and design skills, I could create some niche products that people would find fun. I hope to eventually sell prints of some of my best photographs, as well, but I figured some apparel and stationary would be the place to start.

Mission statement: To find a career in which I can use my communications skills for the betterment of society.I\'m looking for a job in journalism, communications and/or marketing. My next employer must be committed to environmental sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion.I have 20 years of journalism experience and more than 10 years in marketing.I worked for 10 years as the online editor for YorkRegion.com, a role that featured journalism and marketing in equal measure. My journalistic duties included copy editing and working with reporters to decide what to cover and how to cover it. I regularly met with reporters to discuss the best ways to tell complex stories. My marketing duties included writing catchy, SEO-friendly headlines and subheads, creating compelling social media posts, deciding in what order to place articles on the homepage and in newsletters, and more.I was also the newsroom leader in tracking website, newsletter and social media performance using various analytics tools. I prepared weekly, monthly and annual reports and developed strategies to drive more traffic. I also met with other online editors from across Metroland to discuss best practices and keep on top of the latest trends in search and social.
