View department →

CA

Reports to the Program Director and provides full time support for leading a program of five R&D groups that apply LLNL laser and optics technology to DoD and other national security missions. This is a broad role with management responsibility for both internal and external activities. Externally, I interface with high level government sponsors in order to maintain current R&D funding as well as develop new projects. I lead outreach and interactions aimed at establishing collaborative efforts with other LLNL Directorates. Internal collaborations enable LLNL to address projects with scope and scale beyond the capability and expertise of our team alone. I lead the program’s weekly business development meetings. I co-lead the Directorate level Strategic Council. The Strategic Council develops and assesses new opportunities for the NIF & PS Directorate as a whole. Internally, I have management responsibility for leading and overseeing the development of program plans, staffing growth, lab and office space growth and ensuring best practices for safety and security. As a part of my role on the Strategic Council I also actively participate in advocating for and directing the use of internal overhead funding for program development, cutting edge R&D efforts, as well as maintenance and establishment of facilities.
