About Jay Damon
I have over 15 years of professional experience, with 9 in software development. Currently, I work as a Cloud Engineer with Fidelity Investments with a focus on migrating legacy systems from on-prem hardware to the cloud, improving scalability, and ensuring resilience for a system that supports database virtualization and backups for Business Units that represent over $140 billion in assets.Previously, I worked at Amazon on the ShipDocs team of Global Mile, handling document generation, storage, and retrieval for cross-border shipments. During my time, I led the peak war room, which ensured our software remained available and performant during Amazon’s Q4 peak time when our group\'s systems experienced millions of events and requests each day. I designed a key feature that allowed for the download of up to documents in a single zip file, which enabled compliance with government audits, ensuring the avoidance of costly fines.I served as the lead Architect and Engineer of a greenfield project while at Athenium Analytics. To meet our customer needs, I designed all aspects of the backend, including an Authorization system with row level security rules that were unique to and customizable by each customer, a questionnaire rules engine that had to run on the submission of each answer to a questionnaire, and multiple database schemas supporting each service.I am always interested in growing my personal and professional network.
