About Jay Bush

I grew up in Hickory, North Carolina where I spent my summers working in my family\'s manufacturing company, Hickory Springs Mfg Co—a large furniture components manufacturing company with a footprint of over 30 locations across the country. While there, I developed a passion for making widgets. In pursuit of this passion, I earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Duke University. After school, I felt that it was important that I experience other businesses outside of my family\'s both to gain perspective and to legitimize my role once I returned. I spent the next 4 years as an engineering process consultant with The RoviSys Company. There I specialized in developing and implementing control systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, and other GMP compliant companies. As the next step in the course of my career, I attended Wake Forest School of Business where I earned an MBA with dual concentrations in Operations and Consulting. After graduation, I assumed the role of Corporate Director of Engineering Services in my family\'s business (now HSM) where I was responsible for overseeing large scale process development and new product launches. This position eventually evolved into the Corporate Director of Project Management to better reflect the diversity and size of the project load. I have managed everything from the design and launch of new adjustable beds into production to the exploration, justification, formation of a new joint venture around managed inventory services that leverage rfid technologies.
