About Jay Bryant
I have 25+ years of experience in the chemical and energy industry working in multiple leadership roles across the manufacturing, commercial, quality and product management functions. I got my B.S. and M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky and later received an MBA from the University of South Carolina.I am passionate about working with customers to understand their unique needs and then leveraging my manufacturing, commercial and product line experience to collaborate within a team environment to create the right solution. I enjoy building high performing teams and the opportunity to mentor, learn and grow that come from them. From my first job as a project engineer working with manufacturing cell leaders in a nylon polymer plant or leading an empowered commercial team negotiating long-term maintenance contracts to my current role owning gas turbine product strategy, I have always been energized by the opportunity to learn about my customer\'s business models and then working to solve their root problem and not just their immediate need. Taking time to understand the customer and building trust and collaboration across the entire team is the key to success.
Experience
Senior Product Line Manager
Aug 2017 — Present · Atlanta, GA, US
I am accountable for creating the comprehensive product strategy for the 1200+ GE 7E-class gas turbines (7A, 7B, 7C, 7E, & 7EA units) installed globally to maximize success of our 7E customers. Working closely with customers to understand their business models and unique challenges, I partner with the engineering and commercial organizations within GE to develop flexible commercial offerings and leverage existing technical capabilities to create a tailored solution maximizing customer value for each market segment.I am responsible for creating the overall technology road map to create the new capabilities (software/hardware/commercial) required by our customers to successfully compete in a rapidly changing power market. This includes identifying critical trends in the industry, working with customers to understand the potential impacts in their marketplace and crafting the right product strategy to meet these new challenges. Once the key projects are identified, I build the business cases to secure funding, manage the program budgets, make strategic technical decisions and work with the commercial team to launch the new offering to our customers.
