ABOUT JAY BEHEL
Dr. Behel is Associate Dean of Medical Student Affairs at Rush Medical College where he oversees student advising, professional development and wellbeing programming as well as initiatives related to the learning environment. He is co-director of Rx for RJ, a collaborative project at the Center for Restorative Justice at the University of San Diego. Rx for RJ focuses on bringing restorative justice practices to academic healthcare. Additionally, he is the education lead for Affirm: The Rush Center for Gender Sexuality and Reproductive Health. Dr. Behel is a clinical psychologist and is chief of Hospital Psychology for the Rush System for Health. He is a past chair of the Central Group on Student Affairs (CGSA) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Dr. Behel completed his BA in English and Psychology at Vanderbilt University and his PhD in clinical psychology at Auburn University. He, then, completed his residency and fellowship at Rush where he has been a faculty member since 2004. Outside of work, his passions include music, reading, vegan cooking, and travel. He lives in suburban Chicago with his family.
