After six months of collaborative work at the Biodetection Technologies Hub, I’m thrilled to officially start my role as a Research Fellow this week.Over the past months, I’ve been developing and optimising molecular biology approaches for bioaerosol detection, collecting samples from diverse environments—from controlled growth cabinets to agricultural fields and even gyms! I’ve been working on improving DNA extraction and sequencing methods to enhance detection of microbial communities, particularly plant pathogens.I’m especially grateful to be part of such a multidisciplinary team, where collaboration and innovation drive our research forward. Being able to combine my background in molecular biology with engineering-based detection technologies is both challenging and rewarding.Looking forward to the next stage of our work and continuing to contribute to impactful research in biodetection!
