I am employed as a Principal Lawyer for Childcare and manage a team of 3 senior lawyers, and 5 associate lawyers, as well as 4 legal assistants and core admin team that support the department. My duties include but is not limited to:• Assisting the Service Director and Head of Legal with the management of the Legal Service including representing or deputising for the Service Director and the Head of Legal and carrying out special projects and assisting in corporate inter-service or inter-departmental projects and meetings from time to time.• Exercising considerable autonomy in relation to strategic leadership decision and budgets, reporting to and advising the Chief Executive, Corporate Directors and Elected Members, as the case may be, without or with the absolute minimum of professional supervision, and management supervision;• Ensuring the provision of a high-quality legal service in respect of social services, in particular child care, vulnerable adults and related matters, to meet the needs of the Council and Client Departments. I am responsible for team building and developing within the team specialist legal professional knowledge, particularly in the areas of social services, in particular childcare, vulnerable adults and related matters;• Advising Officers and Members of the Council (at the highest level including members of the Council\'s Executive, the Chief Executive and Corporate Directors) as required on legal matters particularly on matters of great complexity and/or sensitivity so as to ensure that they are able to make the best decision.
