ABOUT JAVAID B.
5+ years cumulative work experience, with 3+ years in the battery industry. Results-driven and perpetually-curious engineer with a background in materials science & applied physics coupled with software experience. Solid fundamental foundations from Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Nanotechnology Engineering from the University of Waterloo after graduating in 2021, which is a multidisciplinary degree spanning across fields routed in fundamental theory and practical application. My primary interests following graduation led me to batteries as it allowed me to tackle challenging problems by utilizing both a conceptual view through fundamental electrochemical/material principles along with applied skills such as software development, simulations and applied physics. My tenure at GBatteries gave me platforms to both work on and progress to a lead for battery research testing efforts, as well as to design, develop and validate various algorithmic strategies for our internal BMS solutions. Our collective efforts helped us achieve 2.5x battery cycle life, a testament to our strategic approach and a cohesive structure overall. I then moved to Stellantis as a Battery Engineer to help launch their ambitious R&D Lab in Canada, setting standards for their test & data infrastructure and becoming more versed in critical standards required for automotive contexts. I utilize a first principles approach to problems for use cases in test engineering, BMS algorithm development, data analytics, data science, and overall battery R&D. I also have hands-on elements with lab work in both wet and dry labs + clean rooms, either for material characterization + design or device fabrication + assembly. I have applied software development experience, primarily using Python and MATLab, for applications such as modeling & curve fitting, simulations, data visualization, pipeline design/data scheduling, etc. I also have a fundamental understanding and developed several use cases of deep learning applications mainly for small scale projects but also conceptually for use in battery characterization. Languages and frameworks: Python (pandas, plotly, matplotlib, scikit-learn, Tensorflow), SQL (MySQL), Docker, Airflow, VBS, C++ Other software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AVL
