ABOUT JAVAHIR ALAKBARLI

I hold two Master’s degrees: one in Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, and another in Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh. With an academic foundation rooted in Social Work and a passion for global mobility, governance, and social justice, my work bridges research, policy, and practice. My professional and academic experiences span migration governance, human rights, international development, and social policy. I’ve contributed to policy discussions, organized international conferences, and held leadership roles in student and cultural societies, including serving as Treasurer of the Oxford Migration Studies Society, Vice President of Campion Hall MCR, and Events Manager at the Oxford Kazakh Society. I’m especially interested in the intersections of migration, gender, labor, and inequality, driven by both academic inquiry and lived experience. I’ve collaborated with international organizations, think tanks, and NGOs, and I continue to seek ways to make research impactful beyond academia. I’m also an active member of the Pembroke College Boat Club, finding balance through teamwork and discipline in rowing.I’m always open to collaboration, research opportunities, and meaningful conversations around migration, public policy, and social change.
