About Jastin Garcia-Mendoza
A first-generation college student recently completed a Master\'s in Public Policy at the University of Maryland with a specialization in International Security and Economic Policy. Graduated from Washington College in Economics with a double minor in Psychology and Political Science. With a main focus on international economics and international politics which led to a concentration on international security and economics.When at Washington College, interned with the Peter Franchot for Governor campaign and went on an academic trip to DC for the FNCL Spring Lobby Weekend. Both of these experiences showed me the importance of the government and how much of an impact I can have on the world.When at University of Maryland, interned in the town of Brentwood to conduct research and consulted the town with a tree ordinance. Also, received a fellowship with the Institute of Public Leadership called the Thurgood Marshall fellowship where I got to conduct a self guided research project with mentors. At the end of the year I completed a capstone research project with the DoD Initiative with the U.S. Air Force Medical Command. All these experiences allowed me to become coachable, flexible, and that I have the ability to learn subjects on a short period of time plus being able to distribute that information to others.
