About Jasper Meekes

Working towards a positive vision for the future, with a sustainable and just use of space: this is the main aim of my professional career. Working as a Policy Advisor on mobility, I have contributed to the sustainable development of a number of larger urban area developments in the city of Nijmegen. My background as a spatial scientist has allowed me to view mobility policy not as an isolated sectoral issue, but as an integral part of urban planning. This helps create cities that stimulate more sustainable, active and space efficient modes of transport. As a PhD researcher in the fields op Spatial Planning and Tourism I search for new ways of dealing with fundamental uncertainties. How can we plan for a future that we do not and cannot know? This means strategically searching for new forms of adaptivity in plans and policies, as well as using evolutionary and intersubjective perspectives to analyze how a city or region develops. In my work as policy advisor, PhD researcher and in my previous experiences, I have developed extensive knowledge of spatial planning and mobility in the Netherlands and abroad. I am skilled in combining expertise from a wide variety of disciplines to provide knowledge, policies or ways of thinking that allow for adaptation to ever changing circumstances.
