During vCISO engagements, I\'ve established information security programs: o Incorporating best practices in policy/process/procedure; o Refining their ability to perform risk assessments; o Defining critical technologies and acceptable use; o Clearly establishing security roles/responsibilities; o Mechanisms to deliver on the accountability given by their Board; o Building a formal security awareness program for training SOC, IR, and the balance of employees; o Manage third-party service provider (TPRM) relationships, through proper upfront due diligence & continuous monitoring; o Implementing an incident response plan, establishing parameters and lines of communications for when (not if) a breach happens; o Creating the ‘run business’ part of their day-to-day activities, with reporting (KPIs) for easily updating their Board on a regular basis; o Building and maintaining a secure network & systems; protecting their critically sensitive data stored on-prem and in the Cloud; o Establish and maintain a progressive threat & vulnerability management program; o Implement strong access control measures, via partner-privileged access software; and o Build out their security operation centers, in order to regularly monitor & test their networks.
