ABOUT JASON L. MAGYAR

I am currently assigned to the Recruiting and Personnel Security Squad of the Newark Field Office. I am tasked with overseeing recruiting and hiring. I oversee and conduct background investigations for new hires, as well as current employees requiring security clearance updates. I oversee the onboarding/orientation process for new agents when they report to the Newark Field Office. I am also tasked with managing and conducting investigations for accidents involving employees with their government provided vehicles. I was previously assigned to the North Texas Cyber Fraud Task Force as a Network Intrusion Response Agent. I wad primarily tasked with the investigation and prosecution of individuals and groups who access networks maliciously for various nefarious purposes. I was further tasked with conducting live forensic acquisitions to acquire evidence and then examine the evidence for malicious content. I was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria. I was tasked with facilitating the fulfillment of the mission of the U.S. Secret Service in the region. My primary region was Bulgaria, Greece, Bosnia, Macedonia, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. However, I was required to assist other European offices when necessary. One focus of my assignment was to liaison with local law enforcement to further U.S. Secret Service investigations and work to prosecute individuals living abroad that are violating U.S. statutes. The other focus was to assist our full-time details to fulfill our protective mission abroad. I also served as a shift supervisor on a permanent protection detail. This required the monitoring and scheduling of the day-to-day activities of the personnel assigned to my shift as well the overall safety and well being of the individuals I am assigned to protect. As a shift supervisor, I was tasked with insuring that the individuals I supervised were correctly positioned and that the overall security plan is set up to assure maximum coverage and efficiency. I have overseen and conducted complex investigations both domestically and abroad, which include cyber-crimes, financial institution fraud, counterfeit currency, and protective intelligence. I have also served on protective details both as a temporary and permanent detail member. During my tenure I have conducted protective advances and vulnerability assessments domestically and internationally.
